Supported Childcare Worker

Job Description/Duties:

ü  Reporting to the Child Care Manager, this position will be responsible for promoting good health in the child being cared for and ensures a safe, healthy physical environment. This position is also responsible for creating a learning environment that meets the emotional, physical, social and cognitive needs of the child.

ü  The Supported Childcare Worker is responsible for implementing, monitoring and reporting on the progress of the behaviour support plan that has been created for the child, for maintaining on-going meaningful and effective communication with the parents, the supports for children with disabilities staff and assigned contractors, the CAFN Director of Education, the Child Development Centre, and the school.

Requirements/Qualifications:

ü  Some university level coursework is desirable with minimum of level 3 of the Early Childhood Development program and willingness to continue additional training related to working with children with disabilities;

ü  the right candidate would have to possess a minimum of one year experience working with children with disabilities. Experience working in a cross-cultural and team environment would be an asset.

ü  The Supported Childcare Worker will need to be patient, flexible, and possess a good sense of humor and willingness to learn and be able to accept constructive feedback.

ü  The Supported Childcare Worker, as part of the childcare team, will need to role model a healthy lifestyle including responsible drinking, active living and participation in cultural and traditional activities and abstaining from tobacco and illicit drugs in order to set a good example for members of the community.
